Helpful Hints for Kearny High Crew Parents

Bring with you whatever you think you may need at the race - rain gear, warm clothing, gloves, earmuffs, blankets, etc. The first half of the season tends to be cold, wet & windy on the river so be prepared! Remember, layer up to keep warm. Even if you think you won't need extra clothes, you always will. Please take our advice so that you can enjoy the races.

® A folding camping chair is a good idea, be sure and mark it with your name.

® Wear old shoes or boots - it is very muddy, till later in the season.

® Binoculars, camera, video camera.

® We set the tents on each race day - Look for our Kearny High Crew sign and 2 flags.

Races are 1500 meters and the crews are listed by lane assignments. Lane #1 is closest to the riverbank.

The day goes fast, try and stay till the last race, usually Varsity Boys, not only to support all of our boats as they race, but also to help break down the tents and clean up.

Relax and enjoy your day "at the races." Also, your child will be working very hard at a very difficult sport, be supportive.
